Highlights of an exciting month for MamaInk both in the shop and overseas

It is hard to believe it is already the first week of July. Summer has brought not only warmer weather, but also new clients, new projects, and new ideas.

The late spring and early summer went by blur. Here are some of the things we’ve been up to!

Continuous learning and growth

At the end of May, our co-director Ssab lead a series of lectures on on style, technique, materials, and machinery. These lectures were attended by both apprentices and experienced artists, which goes to show that tattooing is truly a journey of ongoing learning and development.

The lectures were followed by dinner at a Chinese restaurant and drinks at a wine bar. We’re often so busy at the shop, so this was a great opportunity to catch up with those we normally don’t have a chance to talk to. It was also an evening where many of us were able to forge new connections with those in the shop we haven’t met or spoken to previously :)

A busy and inspiring long weekend in Taipei

As many of you may already know, members of our team journeyed to Taipei, Taiwan to attend the 2026 Taipei Tattoo Convention, where we had the opportunity to meet both artists and tattoo enthusiasts from all over Asia, exchange design ideas, learn about new techniques, and participate in conventions.

A particularly proud moment for us was when our artist Hwal took home prizes in both the Best New Artist - Large Piece and Best Sleeve categories. It was wonderful to see an artist that works so hard and puts so much love into what she does get international recognition.

And finally… preparing for another trip to Taiwan!

The dust had just started to settle from our trip to Taipei when we began preparing for our next journey to Taiwan. It is apparent that Taiwan captured our hearts so much that we could not resist another opportunity to go back. This time, we’ll be going to the 2026 Formosa Tattoo Convention in Taichung. More updates on our convention preparations coming soon :)
