The global market is huge!
The global tattoo industry in 2026 is work approximately 2.66 billion US dollars. It is expected to jump to nearly 6 billion dollars in by 2034.
The tattoo boom in Europe
The European continent makes up 33% of the global market.
Popularity on the rise in Asia
The tattoo industry in Asia Pacific is the fastest growing and accounts for 25% of market share.
A split between temporary and permanent
It is worth mentioning that these statistics include both permanent and semi-permanent/temporary tattooing (including cosmetic tattooing). The latter accounts for over half of the industry.
A variety of factors changing the industry
Although it is never easy to pinpoint the cause of any global trend, the report states that the growth of the industry stems from an increase in the number of studios opening, the eveolution of clients' design prefererences, and a continuing increase in tattoos being used as a means of self-expression and a fashion statement.
Interestingly, the report cites professional institutional training (such as MamaInk Academy!) as a contributing factor to the rapid growth of tattoos in Asia.

The United States, Italy, China, Brazil, and South Africa represent the countries with the largest tattoo industries in each of their respective regions.
